Frequently asked questions

When are new areas coming out?
On June 4th, 2020, we released the On Tour areas as part of a free update, and it's possible that On Tour was the game's final content update. We know you want more; some of you remind me of this every week! But after five years of making Hidden Folks, we also want to make different, weird, new stuff! Maybe you can replay parts of the game? In case we decide to make new areas, be sure to sign up for an email when new areas come out.

Sounds on my iPad or iPhone don't work! How to fix it?
iPhones and iPads have a physical mute switch on the side of your device, a software switch in Control Center, and there is the volume of your device. Oh, and if you accidentally left a bluetooth headphone or speaker connected, maybe the sound is trying to play through that. Make sure to check all these things combined!

I can see Salma but she isn't 'found' when I tap her! What can I do?
As opposed to most other targets, to 'find' Salma requires you to solve the little puzzle hinted by her clue. Read the clue carefully and I'm sure you'll figure it out!

The Reptile isn't where all the guides say it is! Where is it?
The reptile target in the Desert was moved in one of the game's updates. As an extra hint: it's... somewhere in the middle of the cactus forest.

How do I zoom in or out on Apple TV?
Double tapping on the touch area without actually clicking the touch area will toggle between a few zoom levels.

I bought Hidden Folks but it says I need to pay again to download it - what do I do?
Contact support of the store you bought the game at. The Hidden Folks team and I developed the game while the store that handles payments and downloads were developed by Apple (App Store) / Google (Google Play Store) / Valve (Steam) / Nintendo (eShop) / etc. Their customer support will instruct you on how to redownload the game, or, worst case scenario, help you refund your purchase.

I bought Hidden Folks on [App Store / Google Play / Steam / etc]; can I now download it though another store?
Makers of app and game stores (Apple, Google, Valve, Nintendo, etc) have not created a system to allow transferring your purchase from one store to another. I think this is because they have no financial incentive to create such a system, but I am merely speculating. Regardless, the end result is that I unfortunately can't transfer your purchase.

Can I get a refund?
Probably! You can request a refund at the store you bought the game - not from me, because technically you didn't buy the game from me. If you don't know how to ask for a refund, google it, because it varies largely per store and sometimes even per country.

I found a bug! What do I do?
Make sure none of the answers above fix your issue. If you're playing Hidden Folks on your iPhone, iPad, or Apple TV, send me an email with your device name, iOS version, and a description of what's happening. If you're playing on Windows, Mac, or Linux, follow the steps outlined in this guide to potentially fix your issue. If you're playing on Nintendo Switch; send me an email and we'll figure it out together!
